A lot of people appear to be on the fence with this one, and I cannot say I blame them. Personally I think the book is written magnificently, and although some people don't like the Audible narrator I think he did a brilliant job conveying the voice of the narrator. I think some people probably struggle with this book as it addresses homosexuality and religion. Not that either are a bad thing to write about per say, but I think there are awkward sexual moments that some readers may be put off from when approaching this book (peaches anyone?). But I stand by my choice to recommend this book because as a bisexual male I think this book cleverly deals with the turmoil one has growing up trying to find their own identity whilst also dealing with somewhat grotesque desires. Although I found the trip to Rome to be a bit dull, I think if you can tolerate the focal point of homosexual desires (and action) you'll be able to appreciate the book for what it's worth.
