Any child born into a reading family after 1969 is no doubt familiar with Eric Carle’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar, as well as several others by the artist who turned an eye for collage-based compositions into a new kind of picture book. Parents of those children, however, have a particularly warm spot in their hearts for Papa, Please Get the Moon for Me, a colorful mixture of illustration, imagination, and bookmaking ingenuity. The story is as simple and lovely as they come, and the pictures really do leap off the page. Kids will learn about the monthly lunar cycle, but what they—and their parents—will really remember is how much fun a book can be.
Beloved story between father and daughter and the lengths a parent will go for their child.
